As a major East Devon visitor attraction we are at our busiest during the spring, summer and autumn. We hope that the information in this sheet will help make your visit enjoyable, relaxed and informative.

Working Mill - there has been a working water mill at Otterton since Saxon times. We still grind wholemeal flour at the mill and give access to groups to most areas of the mill. Please be aware that a working mill can be a potentially dangerous place and we ask group organisers to bring plenty of assistants when visiting us.

The mill also houses a major art gallery with works varying in price from £10 - £5000 - again we welcome groups in the gallery area but stress the importance of providing adequate cover as any breakages must be paid for.

Tours - We can organise a tour guide to show you around the mill to explain the workings and the history of the mill. We do charge a small fee of £1 per person for this special service. Booking is essential.

Bakery - Using only traditional craft methods we bake bread and cakes daily, supplying our Devon Food Shop and Restaurant with fresh produce.

Devon Food Shop - (2005 Winner of the Best Specialist Food Shop in Devon) We sell our own stoneground flour, bread and cakes as well as a range of drink and food produced solely from Devon. At Otterton Mill we have a commitment to local culture and feel that it is important to support the local economy.

Restaurant - (2004 Finalist for The Most Distinctive Local Menu in Devon) The restaurant can seat 45 upstairs, 18 downstairs and also has an attractive outside terrace and courtyard which can seat an additional 100. You can book meals with the restaurant in advance. Please call 01395 567041 to organise your meal.

Artist Studios - You can visit four highly accomplished resident artists on site in their studios and watch them work - Emma Paver: fashion designer, Natasha Simmons: graphic designer and fine artist, Nan Taksoe-Jensen: potter and ceramicist (closed Tuesday & Wednesday), Steve Whitford: jeweller (closed Tuesday & Wednesday)

Environment - The Mill is situated beside the River Otter, known for it's natural beauty and wildlife. We are developing a significant environmental area, complete with wildflower meadow, wildlife pond, orchard and managed woodland. A number of wild birds can be seen at the mill along with our resident free-range chickens.

Parking - We can provide short term parking for coaches during weekdays. However, on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays coaches will need to park elsewhere after unloading.

Do call us on 01395 568521 if you have any queries or questions.we look forward to your visit.
