The Mill's signature stoneground wholemeal flour is produced by waterpower, continui
ng in a 1,000 year old on-site milling tradition. We use our flour in our artisan bakery to produce the bread for which we're famous, and also sell it in our Food Shop. We add nothing and take nothing away from the grain, which is why our flour tastes so good.
The grain we use is organic Maris Widgeon wheat, which is specially grown for us by Tamarisk Farm on the Devon and Dorset border. Maris Widgeon is one of the oldest and tallest varieties of wheat, and is increasingly rare, but it makes the best wholemeal bread. Our Head Baker, Roy, insists on it!
We usually mill twice a month and produce about 12 tonnes of flour throughout the year. If you visit on a Milling Day, you can watch our millers at work and taste the flour as it arrives fresh and warm from the mill stones.
We sell our flour in a range of weights, from 1.5kg to 25kg, and it's perfect for home bread-making. We also stock other high quality organic and stoneground flours made by local producers, including strong white, plain white, granary, rye and spelt.
Prices for the Mill's stoneground wholemeal flour: 25Kg sacks - £29.40, 1.5kg bags - £2.70 or two for £4.97.
